Sérgio Farias de Souza Filho is an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco in Recife.
He obtained his PhD in Philosophy from King’s College London.
He was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and at the University of São Paulo.
He obtained his MA in Philosophy from the Logic and Metaphysics Graduate Program at UFRJ.
He works in Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Language and Metaphysics.
Main research topics: intentionality, naturalistic theories of mental representation, biological function, phenomenal character of sensory experience, and rule following.
CLEA started as a single research group that remains active.
It was founded in May of 2020 with the purpose of uniting researchers from all over the country around related themes and interests.
Despite contemplating a wide spectrum of theoretical positions and inclinations, the group assumes that cognitive, linguistic and affective processes cannot be understood outside the agent’s situated activities in their (physical and social) environment.
The main proposals and activities of the group are 1) to encourage the study, debate and academic production around these themes; and 2) to establish a support and debate group on works in progress and new proposals....
